Well I open my mailbox when I pulled in and I see a package. I just thought it was something crazy Dustin ordered. Well I look at it and it has my name on it. Then I remembered!!! I could not wait to pull in and get into the kitchen to open it. This gift just made my day!! It was wrapped up so nice and festive looking!! My secret LJ buddy is the bomb!!! She sent me some OPI nail polish and a nail file. I LOVE the colors!! I can't wait to paint my nails, they need it sooo bad!! Thank you Thank you Thank you so much for this gift!! I LOVE IT!!! |

Okay! So I just got a call from the OB nurse at my doctor's office and she said I was a carrier of Group B Strep!! They found it in my urine sample I gave last week. She said I will have to be put on antibiotics right away and will probably have to be on them again while in labor so I don't give it to the baby. She made it sound like this was pretty common but it's still alittle scary that I might transmit this to my baby during birth. Has anybody else had this before? Will I have to be on anitbiotics my whole pregnancy? I went and looked online about this cause I've never heard of it before. This is what it says.... - Group B streptococcus, or group B strep, is a bacterium that causes life- threatening infections in newborns. Group B strep can also cause disease in pregnant women, the elderly, and adults with other illnesses.
- Many people carry group B strep bacteria in their bodies without developing infection or illness. However, the bacteria can become deadly to people with weakened immune systems.
- Pregnant women can transmit group B strep to their newborns at birth. Group B strep is the most common cause of blood infections and meningitis in newborns.
- Most cases of group B strep disease in newborns can be prevented by giving certain pregnant women antibiotics during labor.
Have any of you mommies or mommies-to-be heard of this before? |

So my first appt was yesterday and I was a bit disappointed. I'm sure every doctor's office does this differently though. I met with the prenatal nurse and she went through everything I can/cannot do, eat, exercise, etc. It was very informational and I'm glad Dustin went cause he could hear and learn all the "rules" of the game.
They took a ton of blood and I peed in a cup and thats it. They didn't weight me, take my blood pressure or anything. I just thought that was weird. Oh well, I guess their all different. I just see all the expectant mothers getting early ultrasounds and hearing the heartbeat and I guess I'm just alittle jealous. I just want some kind of reassurance and I really didn't get any of that yesterday. I do have another appt. in 2 weeks where I'll meet with my first doctor. I think they'll do the doppler then. The nurse did give me a due date of May 2. I thought that was weird too cause all she did was look at a chart and measured it from my last menstrual period. Well I can do that on the internet, ya know. I told her that I don't have a normal 28 day cycle so that might push my due date back some. She then said that the only way they can tell for certain how far along I am is to do an ultrasound and measure the baby. Maybe I'll get that at my next appt. So as of right now, I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow the 27th.
Did any of you mommy-to-bes have a first appt. like this? I can't help it but I'm just nervous about everything and I want some kind of reassurance that everything's alright in there.
Please think happy thoughts for me and my little one. :) |

*This weekend went by way too fast!! It was a very low key weekend. Friday night we went out to the Ale House and met up with some of our friends. I still haven't quite gotten use to the fact that I can't drink. It just feels wierd, I guess cause I'm so use to just having a casual beer here and there. Saturday night we had some friends over so I spent most of saturday cleaning up and shopping at walmart. There is just no way of coming out of there and spending less than $50. You just can't do it. It was fun for our friends to come over and talking baby talk. *Oh and I've been meaning to post pics of our new curtains in the living room. I got them at pottery barn on sale for 50% off. I thought I needed alittle color in this room. Ignore the blue chair in the left corner. Dustin just won't get rid of that thing! Oh well, it is pretty comfy! :) *Another random picture. A couple weeks ago, Dustin was in one of his frat. brothers wedding. It was in Asheville, NC. I LOVE the mountains!! Anyway, here is the one pic I took the whole night. We haven't quite mastered the 'hold your hand out and take your own picture' concept yet. *I guess this is kind of a poll or some sort but I wanted to go and get a good pregnancy book to read. One that has a ton of info in it. What do you suggest? What have you read that had some great info in it? I've heard that What to expect when your expecting is good but I wanted to see if there were any other books that were essential for someone pregnant to read. Thanks! |

Thank you all so much for your sweet words. It's so nice to log on here and find you ladies nice words of encouragement. We are very excited about this. Alittle shocked but I guess thats okay.
Finding out Well I have very long cycles so when I was 33 days I really didn't think anything of it. My cycles are usually about 34-35 days long. Well on Day 35 I noticed that I haven't started spotting yet. I usually spot for about a day or two before the full blown period starts. I also noticed that my boobs were starting to hurt and actually I thought they were getting alittle bit fuller (YAY!) |

Ugh, this is confusing! So last night we had a discussion on this topic and it didn’t go very well. I think we’re gonna hold off on baby making for awhile. As much as that disappoints me, I can’t push him into doing anything he’s just not ready for. Last night, we just started casually talking about this and all of a sudden he says, “Ya know, I just don’t think I’m ready to start really ‘trying’ yet” He says he’s happy doing it the way we’ve been doing it, which is using no protection and seeing if a “surprise” happens. He doesn’t want me to start temping and doing ovulation stuff. And I’m fine with that. I am a little disappointed because I’m ready to get pregnant and be a mom. Yeah I know it will change our life drastically but I’m ready for that. And I just don’t think he is. I think he thinks that once we have kids we can never go out to dinner or hang out with our friends and have a drink. Yeah I know we won’t be able to do that stuff as much but I think it would be a change for the better. I do think this is the one subject that we should not rush into but it’s just hard. Why do they have to be so difficult?!? So ladies, how can I cope with this? It’s like my heart was broken last night when he said he wanted to wait awhile longer. Maybe I’m being stupid and I need to grow up a bit. I’ve just always wanted to be a young mom, and I know I have plenty of time but it’s just not what I had pictured for our life. Oh well, I guess there’s gonna be no more talks of babies in our house (at least for alittle while). Ugh!

Babies, Babies, Babies
So this weekend I went to Charlotte to visit my parents and I was hopefully going to meet up with my best friend from high school, Brooke. So saturday night we ended up meeting at an ice cream place to catch up and chat. I haven't seen the girl since x-mas so it was nice to see her and just hang out. Alittle background info on brooke, she and her hubby have been trying to get pregnant for about a year now. She was starting to get alittle frustrated with it all. She was buying ovulation kits and just nothing was working. Well, she tells me saturday that she's pregnant!! Of course I am over the moon happy for her. She had just found out on friday so she is very early on. And she says to me, "Now you need to get pregnant so we can do this at the same time." I'm like, i know i know. We'll see what happens.
Fast forward to Sunday night at dinner with D. I tell him that brooke is pregnant and of course he's happy for them. Then he says to me after talking about it for a bit, "Well maybe we can start trying this month so ya'll can enjoy this together!!" I was screaming on the inside! YAY!! Ya'll do not know how happy that makes me feel!!! I think he really was just looking for something to just push him over the edge and want to take the leap and actually start trying. Now here's alittle background info on our situation. I have been off BC for over a year. We don't use any precaution, Nothing! So actually I guess it could happen anytime now but we've never really had the talk and made the go ahead with it. I think he was hoping that it was just happen on its own. I have never really watched my cycle or figured out when I ovulated. We were just having sex, ya know. Well now its a whole new ballgame. I am super excited now!
Alright ladies, I need your help. What do I do now? Should I do ovulation kits, should I take my temp? I have looked around on fertilityfriend.com and I do like that site. Thanks for your help!!

If you are still reading my journal and are on my friends list, can you reply to this post with a very brief introduction....even if I already "know" you. With so many ladies on my friends list I want to make sure I can keep everyone straight! I would also like to do a little friend list spring cleaning, so make sure you post! About me...My name is Megan. I’m 25 years old. Married my lovely husband, Dustin, 26 on June 18, 2005. We live in Raleigh, NC but I grew up in Charlotte, NC. We met in College at Western Carolina. I work for a company owned by GE Healthcare that manufactures and sells X-Ray equipment to hospitals and surgery centers. Dustin works for family friends at an Interior Carpet and Lighting Store. He deals with builders everyday and their crazy demands. But he can’t complain much because we got some major discounts when we remodeled our house last year. I love to shop! And even if I don’t have any money, I’ll still go to the mall and “window shop”. As much as Dustin hates this, I love reality shows! I wish I didn’t cause some of them are so stupid but I just can’t help it. My favs right now are American Idol, Dancing w/ the stars, Bachelor, and Survivor. Wow, that’s a lot! I also enjoy reading when I have a chance. |

I can't believe Christmas is over already. Why does it always have to go by so fast! It was so hard coming to work this morning. Ugh, and our course D has the whole week off. I'm so jealous!! Our x-mas was pretty good, we went to Charlotte to visit my family so it was really nice seeing some of my family that I only get to see once a year.
So we had planned to leave Raleigh Saturday morning but you know how traveling goes, it never goes according to plans. We ended up not leaving the house til almost 12:00 and we had to make it to Charlotte by 3:00 because my mom was having some of my dads family over for a get together. We were both running around trying to get everything ready to go. All of a sudden, D surprised me with my x-mas gift a couple days early. I'm was so excited because it was a complete surprise to me. |

So this past weekend we had our party and I think it turned out really well. We got lots of compliments on the house and all the work we've done to it. Hearing this just makes all the re-modeling worth it. We had way to much food but I guess thats to be expected when you're hosting a party and your really not sure how many people are coming. I think we had about 35 people and I think that was a good amount. For our 1800 sf house, that amount was perfect. |

Man it feels like forever since I've done an update on here. We still don't have the internet at our house yet. It's killing me. The main reason I hate it is because I can't upload my pictures from my camara til I get the internet. Hopefully it won't be long. Time Warner Cable is really giving us the run around and I'm about to just go to the satelite provider. But I really love TWC...and the DVR is my favorite! Since we've lived there we have only been able to pick up one channel, ABC. I hate it! Well, if I could ask for one channel, thats the one I would ask for. It's got all my favs on it. Homecoming WeekendMy friend finally emailed me some pictures from homecoming weekend back in Oct. It was great to see everybody and sometimes I really wish I was back in college. But I do love my life the way it is and really couldn't imagine not bring married to D. I just miss all my friends, we were so close. I guess we just take for granted being able to just run around the corner and visit with someone. Here all my close girlfriends at Tailgating... Me and Lindsey (I had to re-size it so it looks really funny!) Holiday PartySo I think I must be going crazy but I decided to host a Holiday Party. I really don't think my house will be ready. I feel like I have too many bare walls. I really need to do some major decorating! I'm mainly doing this just so friends and family can come over and see our house and all the work we did on it. I think once they see the befores and afters they will really understand the hard work we put into this baby. So, what's good to serve at a party like this? I'm doing it from 2:00 to 5:00 on Sunday Dec. 10th. I want it to be like a drop-in thing so it doesn't get too over crowded. I was thinking of doing a lemon pound cake, some cookies, some sort of meat (either meatballs or chicken wings). Other than that I'm clueless. I need some ideas... Here is the invites I got from paperstyle ThanksgivingI can not believe it's Thanksgiving already. Time is just flying by. Anyway, tomorrow I'm in charge of bring Crock-pot mac & cheese and a dish of butter beans and corn. Both pretty simple I think. This past weekend I was watching the food network and Paula Deen was on with her show, Paula's Southern Thanksgiving. She made an Apple Butter Pumpkin Pie and I don't know if its just the name it sounds sooo good. I'm gonna try to make that this weekend. The recipe seems too easy! Apple Butter Pumpkin Pie Well I hope everybody has a great Thanksgiving!! Let me know if you find any good sales at the stores on Friday. I *might* go out and try to do some shopping. Maybe but probably not! :) |

Saturday
So this past weekend we went to a halloween party at a friends house. Of course it was hard as hell to get D to dress up as anything. He's so damn stubborn!! Well, I finally got him to put on a pair of carhart overalls and a flannel shirt. I guess thats the best I'm gonna get. I went out and bought cat ears and a little cat tail from walmart. I also drew some whiskers on my face with my eye liner. It was something simple but it served the purpose. I just didn't want to go out and buy a costume and wear it one time. Oh well, we had a fun time. Here's a picture from the party.

Sunday
We both went 4-wheelin with some of our friends through some trials. This is the first time I've ever 4-wheeled on a trail by my self. The only times I've really ever rode on one is just around the yard. D has his own 4-wheeler so I borrowed his granddaddy's so I could have one of my own. I was so tense and nervous the whole time we were riding I really couldn't enjoy the trip. I think next time I'd much rather be a rider than a driver.
Hope everybody has a good halloween!!! :) |
